Healing Depression- There is hope!

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Hi, I just wanted to start off my blog by saying there is hope –there is healing for depression. Depression is not incurable. Healing depression is possible.

I know that you may have been tormented for years with feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. I know that it may feel like there’s no way back. Like you’ve tried everything, and nothing’s helped.

I also know that if you are dealing with the pain of depression, that medications, doctors, psychologists, and psychiatrists may have promised you relief but left you with promises unintentionally broken and your hopes dashed. You may feel like there’s nothing left to do, nothing more to try, that you should just get used to the idea of living with your depression.

Maybe it’s not you but someone you love, someone you hold dear to your heart who you see suffering day by day. You want to help them, to rescue them but you just don’t know how…..

Please, no matter who you are, what you’ve tried, or how you feel today; please keep looking for the answer for you! It will be worth it. You are worth it.

If you’re reading this blog now you’re probably looking for answers, for solutions that really work this time. What I can do for you is to provide you with tools to help you discover the physical or biochemical causes of your depression. And once you’ve found out the cause you can treat it, very specifically- and I’m not talking about antidepressants. The treatments I often suggest are supplements (vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids etc), natural hormone medications, simple dietary changes and occasionally some lifestyle modifications- and I don’t propose the same treatment options to every single person.

I’ve started this blog and written a book on the physical causes of depression (and its treatments), because my nephew needed answers, just like you do. My husband’s nephew (I married into the family just over 2 years ago) suffered from depression and suicidal thoughts from the age of 6. Yes as young as the age of 6- no joke. His family searched for answers for years but they couldn’t find any solutions to help his suffering- for over 10 years! There was definitely lots of sleepless nights, endless worry, and hopes shattered in their household.

Luckily they didn’t give up, because when I married into the family, and I found out about my nephew’s depression, I was fortunately able to help. I had been involved in previous research into the causes of depression, and natural and hormonal treatment approaches. I was able to diagnose the biochemical imbalances that were leading to my nephew’s chronic condition. In truth in the end the solution was actually quite simple. With two supplements at the right doses his depression lifted within weeks. It was quite miraculous!

I tell you this not to impress you, but to impress upon that you can find healing too. Healing depression in some cases is as simple as 1 supplement or 1 hormonal medication. The key to healing depression is finding out the cause of your depression, and then treating it very specifically. That means that a ‘cure’ or effective treatment for your depression will most likely be different from my nephews. I know of at least 20 effective treatments for depression- the key is finding the right one for you.

I’m going to leave it here today, but I’ll tell you more about the best cures for depression next time. Hang in there. My nephew and his family didn’t give up, and I believe that there will be answers to help you to.

Let Dr Sinclair Teach You How to Stop Depression.

Day1 blogging in the fight to stop depression. This is the first time I’ve ever written a blog, and it brings feelings of both excitement and nerves. Excitement because at last I can do my part to help stop depression crippling so many people’s lives, and share my depression book and all the information I have been compiling for over 6 months now. I feel nerves I suppose because I’m not entirely sure how to write a blog- but I’m sure you’ll forgive me for this.

Probably the best thing for me to do is to start at the beginning and introduce myself and what I will be sharing on this blogsite.

Hi my name is Dr Janelle Sinclair. I’m a biochemist and scientific writer, specializing in natural medicine. I’ve been working in the natural medicine area for more than 5 years now. I’ve spent the last 6 months writing a book in which I summarized everything I have learnt about the causes of depression, bringing you the latest scientific research and the most effective treatments options for depression.

I’m totally aware that depression has many causes- be it emotional, spiritual or physical. The role that I believe I have to play is to help show you how to determine whether a physical or biochemical imbalance is causing your depression. And once a biochemical cause has been identified, show you how to treat it effectively.

The antidepressant medications on the market work to help balance your brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) such as serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline- because it is believed that depression is caused by a deficiency of these chemicals. But did you know that hormonal imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, toxins and adverse reactions to food, can cause depression too? A lot of doctors don’t know either, and that’s why they don’t know to rule them out, and that’s why you haven’t been tested for them.

On this blogsite, I’m going to discuss what the biochemical (or physical) causes of depression are, why they’re so often overlooked, problems with the laboratory tests many doctors use, the best way to diagnose many of the causes of depression, and the most effective treatments.

Drop me a line, tell me what you think or ask me a question. I’m here to help. I’m really looking forward to sharing this journey with you, and helping you stop depression crippling your life or the life of your loved one.
